Border Patrol agent detains women for speaking Spanish

A woman from El Paso, Texas living in Montana says a Border Patrol agent detained her to question her for speaking Spanish.   Ana Suda says over the weekend she and a friend were conversing in Spanish in a store in Havre when a Border Patrol agent standing in line behind the women stopped Ana to ask her for her ID.  When she asked why he said because you were speaking Spanish.

Suda recorded the entire episode on her cell phone and posted it online.  Later, the Border Patrol issued a statement saying agents have authority to question anyone and it does not have to be near the border.
