ZERO’s mission is to end prostate cancer by advancing research, improving the lives of men and families, and inspiring action. This is done in part through races in over 50 communities across the nation and an advocacy summit in DC each year to protect and request increases in federal funding research dollars. Last year’s summit contributed to an increase of $10 million in research funding totaling $100 million.
Over 10,000 men are still alive due to reduced prostate cancer mortality rates. More than 76,000 participants inspire hope nationwide to raise over $10 million toward lifesaving treatments and awareness. It is estimated that 2470 men in Washington will be newly diagnosed with prostate cancer this year and 710 will lose their battle to the disease.
ZERO provides many patient and caregiver support services including the ZERO360 where caseworkers assist patients in navigating their health insurance and finding financial support in three areas: insurance enrollment and appeals process, screening and enrollment for earned benefits plus locating resources for cost of living support.
