A pledge to keep smartphones out of the hands of younger kids is gaining national attention after thousands of parents have signed up to take it. A mom noticed that kids at his kid's school all have smart phones. These kids were not playing on the playground, or talking to each other, there were immersed on their smart phones. So she started a campaign called "Wait till the 8th." Currently, the online pledge has 20,000 signatures in all 50 states.
The Wait Until 8th pledge is encouraging parents to delay the smartphone. If you would like your child to have a basic phone that just calls and texts or a two-way calling watch, you still can sign the pledge! The basic phone and two-way calling watch avoid many of the distractions and dangers of the smartphone.
