No more valedictorians at Mason High because of mental health concerns

Things will be different for the class of 2020 at Mason High School. School officials made an announcement this week that made some students and parents upset. Officials the school will not have a valedictorian or salutatorian and will move to the Latin Honors System. They have a reason and they believe it is a good one, they want to reduce stress and anxiety among students.

Mason Schools spokesperson Tracey Carson said Friday 40 percent of Mason's students graduate with a 4.0 GPA or higher and the desire to overachieve can create stress for teens. School officials say the studied the issue for a long time before making this decision. Read more here
