Maine Voted To Dump The Electoral College Join 15 other states

Maine Pushes To Dump The Electoral College- Lawmakers in Maine are backing a push to replace the Electoral College with a national popular vote.

The Maine Senate voted narrowly, on Tuesday, to join 15 other states in an effort to undo the Electoral College. The bill faces further action in both the state Senate and the House. Presidential elections are decided by the Electoral College, which gives extra influence to smaller states.

The law gives the electoral college votes of Maine to the candidate who wins the national popular vote, effectively making the college useless.

Donald Trump is one of five presidents who have been elected without winning the national popular vote.
