Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez critisized President Donald Trump for suggesting that she and other progressive lawmakers 'go back' to their countries and fix what's broken there before telling the United States how the government should operate.
In a tweet, the congresswoman wrote" Mr. President, the country I “come from,” & the country we all swear to, is the United States.But given how you’ve destroyed our border with inhumane camps, all at a benefit to you & the corps who profit off them, you are absolutely right about the corruption laid at your feet. "
She was not the only one that blasted the president for his comments. Meghan McCain, John McCain's daughter wrote on twitter: "This is racist. And I see Trump people are trying to spin this to just be about Rep. Omar, but we all know that’s a lie. But even if it were just about Rep. Omar, it would still be racist. We don’t tell people we’ve welcomed into this country to “go back.”
They were not the only two, most Democrats and some Republicans accused the president for they all called was a "racist" tweet.
