Another "Straight Pride Parade" proposal submitted in a U.S. city

It looks like another group of straight men are planning a pride parade, this time in Modesto, California.

Barely a month after Boston approved an application for a Straight Pride Parade on August 31st, a request for a permit has been submitted in Modesto for a parade to take place August 24th in Modesto’s Graceada Park.

Don Grundmann of the National Straight Pride Coalition is responsible for the event, and says the parade is on opposition to “anyone that supports the LGBTQ lifestyle.” A flyer for the event, which was posted to Facebook earlier this month, reads, “Join us to celebrate heterosexuality, masculinity, femininity, babies – born and unborn – western civilization, our wonderful country, Christianity — Celebrate Life!”

The city is currently reviewing the application, but as you can imagine they are getting a lot of pushback. Kristi Ah You, council member for District 3, tells the local CBS affiliate, “We’ve been getting letters, emails, comments, and phone calls all day about it.” She adds that if it was her decision the permit wouldn’t be approved.
