Trump and Al Sharpton in war of words

President Trump is continuing his attacks on Maryland Congressman Elijah Cummings.Trump took to Twitter yesterday and said under the Democratic lawmaker's leadership, Baltimore has “the worst crime statistics in the nation.” The President also took a shot at the Reverend Al Sharpton, who traveled to Baltimore in the wake of Trump’s initial criticisms.

Trump said that he's “known Sharpton for 25 years” and that he's “a con man” and “a troublemaker.” He also said Sharpton hates white people and cops. Sharpton is returning the favor…and stepping up his attacks on the President. For his part, Sharpton said Trump "attacks everybody...but he has a particular venom for blacks and people of color.”

Still, there’s a group of Black pastors who are attempting to calm the war of words. No one is sure when the meeting was booked – as it wasn’t previously listed on the President’s public schedule. It only became public knowledge when the President tweeted that he would be meeting with "wonderful inner city pastors" yesterday afternoon. No word on what th results of that sit-down were.
