in #CASE you missed it… Guy Brings Support Clown To “Termination Meeting”

There can’t be anything much more depressing than getting laid off. If there was any way to make that meeting you’re receiving a pink slip a little less traumatic, wouldn’t you try it? Especially if it makes things super awkward for your boss?

Meet Joshua Jack from New Zealand, dude may have created the best way to get laid off (or at least the best response to the notion of getting canned). After finding out he was getting let go by his advertising agency due to budget cuts, Joshua did the only logical thing he could think of. No, not get his resume in order…Jack spent $200 to hire a clown to come to his termination meeting with him.

Joshua got an email from his company telling him they “needed to talk about his role.” And while he was on the fence about if it was a promotion or a goodbye, the note apparently mentioned “bringing a support person.” “I thought it was best to bring in a professional,” says Jack. “So I paid $200 and hired a clown.”

While the outside the box thinking wasn’t enough to make his bosses change their mind about letting him go the clown did seem to help ease tensions. The clown named “Joe” mimicked crying as Jack’s employers handed him his termination and he also blew up some balloon animals (a unicorn and a poodle!).

You’re getting fired and you can bring anyone with you to the meeting with your boss. Who are you bringing and why?
