While teachers likely have one of the most important jobs out there, it is often a thankless one, with many teachers being overworked and underpaid, and definitely underappreciated. But some states do a better job than others at treating their teachers fairly, and a new report reveals which ones they are.
WalletHub has just come out with their list of 2019's Best and Worst States for Teachers, judging the 50 states and District of Columbia on 23 key indicators of teacher-friendliness, including average starting salary, income growth potential, pupil-to-teacher ratio, teacher security, quality of school system and more.
So, which state is the best for teachers? Topping the list this year is North Dakota, which earns a 61.69 out of 100 and comes in third for academic and work environment, and 11th for opportunity and competition.
