in #CASE you missed it… Crypto Mining Bot Uses Taylor Swift Image

A cryptocurrency-mining botnet is using a Taylor Swift image to hide malware payloads they send to infected computers. The name of the botnet is MyKingz. It can also go by other names such as Smominru, DarkCloud, or Hexmen.

A United Kingdom security firm found the botnet earlier this month and warns that MyKingz will scan for vulnerable hosts and infected computers and they’re using the Taylor Swift image to hide a malicious EXE file inside the JPG image.

Malware gangs have also used audio files to hide dangerous EXE files as well. The botnet mainly affected Windows-based programs, so if your computer isn’t patched with protection then you’re at risk.

Sophos says that the MyKingz operators are making $300/day on average with a historical total of 9,000 XMR to date, or $3 million.
