Famed super spy 007 will always be played by a man onscreen.
British franchise producer Barbara Broccoli told “Variety” in an interview, published yesterday, that James Bond can be of any color, but is written as a male character. Broccoli said "I believe we should be creating new characters for women - strong female characters. She went on to say, "I think women are far more interesting than that."
In case you’re wondering how Broccoli can be so sure, her family owns an “iron grip” on the franchise and gets final say in every detail. She and her half brother oversee the longest running franchise in Hollywood history. The deal was set for the family back in the early 60s.
