Teens Rush To Rescue Passengers From Plane Crash In Water

A plane flying four Alaska Department of Forestry employees crashed near Aniak, Alaska, shortly after takeoff. It was carrying emergency firefighters to help with wildfires but crashed into a water-filled gravel pit. A group of teenagers ranging in age from 13 to 19 were some of the first on the scene and waded into the water to help.
The teens worked to get the passengers out of the plane and called emergency services for help. State Forestry Director Chris Maisch thanked the “good Samaritan civilians” for their rescue efforts and courage. He explains, “I’m certain their actions were key to the outcome and I can only imagine their presence brought great comfort.”
All of those on board were flown to a hospital in Anchorage with non life-threatening injuries.
