in #CASE you missed it… First Woman To Fly Stealth Bomber In Combat

A female U.S. Air Force captain has broken the glass ceiling at lightning speed. The Air Force reports that Emily Thompson, an F-35A pilot has become the first woman to fly the stealth bomber in combat. An all-woman maintenance crew also worked to launch her historic flight.

Thompson, who studied to be an aerospace engineer, says she became interested in flying planes when she was in college. She explains that after finding out about “the whole pilot thing,” she realized she could fly instead of building the airplanes and “it just took off from there.”

“Of course being the first female, it’s a pretty big honor,” says Thompson. “There’s a lot of females who have come before me and there’s a lot of females already flying combat sorties in other platforms. So just to be the person who gets that honor, that first, it just meant a lot.”
