Smart Asset has published their 2020 list of the worst drivers in the USA.

Smart Asset has released 2020 edition of their “States With The Worst Drivers” list. In order to tabulate the results, they took four metrics into account: the number of insured drivers, DUI arrests per 1,000 drivers, total fatalities per 100 million miles driven, and how often residents Google searches for “traffic tickets” or “speeding tickets.” With those in mind, here are the worst behind the wheel.

Mississippi – The worst for the third consecutive year.

Nevada – The fourth highest rank when it comes to Google searches.

Tennessee – 20% of their drivers don’t have insurance.

Florida – Only 73.3% of their drivers are insured.

California – Ranks in the worst 15 in three of the four metrics.

Arizona – Has the third highest rate of fatalities per 100 miles driven.

South Carolina (tied) – The highest number of fatalities per 100 miles.

Texas (tied) – Ranks in the bottom 20 in three of the four metrics.

New Mexico – Only 79.2% of drivers there are insured.

Alaska – Has the fifth highest rate of DUI per 1,000 drivers.

It never pays to focus just on the bad, so here are the five states with the best drivers in the USA. May we all be able to bask in their glory.

50. Massachusetts – Ranks top ten in three of the four good driver metrics.

49. Utah

48. Nebraska

47. Vermont
