Tell Me Something Good: Teen Raises $ Feeds First Responders

Since the pandemic hit, Gaby Zola has been raising money to feed first responders, essential workers, and stock a local food bank.

A Massachusetts high school student has been busy raising money to feed essential workers, first responders, and to stock a local food bank during the pandemic. Gaby Zola, 16, started a GoFundMe campaign back in April, asking the community to donate for meals. And it’s been really successful.

The teen’s fundraiser has brought in nearly $8-thousand so far. Gaby says the meals they buy are all from local restaurants, so her good deed is also helping to support small businesses in her area.

“I was really surprised,” Gaby says of her campaign’s success. “I wasn't even expecting to make $200 ... I never expected to do anything like this in my life, and it's great being able to give back to the community.”
