in #CASE you missed it… Woman Tries Washing Her Money

A South Korean woman tried getting rid of any coronavirus germs on her money

A woman in South Korean made the unfortunate mistake of putting her paper money in a washing machine to remove possible traces of the coronavirus. The bills were subsequently destroyed and officials say the loss was considerable.

She placed an unspecified amount of 50,000-won ($42) bills in the washing machine and reached out to the Bank of Korea to find whether it could be exchanged for new bills. Under bank rules on the exchange of damaged, mutilated, and contaminated banknotes, the person can only recover half of the value.

Bank officials said that the number of bills the bank exchanged at half value was 507. That comes to just over $21,000. She said the bank doesn't count the number of bills that it cannot exchange because the damage is too big. The amount in question was condolence money given by relatives, friends, and others during a family funeral, according to the bank.
