TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Strangers Form Human Chain. Rescue Family

A dad and four kids were stranded in a vehicle that was in danger of being swept away by rising floodwaters

A father and his four children were saved from being swept away in a sinking vehicle thanks to a group of good samaritans. In West Marlborough Township, Pennsylvania, floodwaters were rising in the river and this family’s car was in danger of sinking. But then four strangers came together to rescue them.

One of those strangers was Dan DiGregorio, who explains that the group was trying to figure out how to help the dad as he was standing outside the car with his baby in his arms. Just then, a backhoe came driving around the corner and the good Samaritans yelled at the guy operating it to come help them. He did and the rescuers formed a human chain, holding onto each other’s belts, to get the kids and father safely onto the backhoe one at a time.

“We were all very lucky,” DiGregorio says. “I mean, it wasn't smart by any of us, but it was something that had to be done as soon as possible."
