in #CASE you missed it… $350 Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich

While most people love a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, how many would be willing to pay $350 for one? Well, probably not many, but the option is out there, thanks to one restaurant in Chicago.

PB&J (Pizza, Beer and Jukebox) restaurant just introduced what they are calling the “Golden Goose” sandwich, which features “toasted edible gold leaf bread,” “all-natural peanut butter,” New Zealand’s manuka honey, and “the world’s most expensive” seedless redcurrant jam from Maison Dutriez in France, which is described as being “hand-seeded using goose quills.”

The owners of PB&J created their version in response to a $299 Golden Gourmet PB&J Sandwich from the now-defunct San Diego restsaurant Red’s Golden Gourmet, which featured peanut butter, jelly, blueberries, bananas, bacon, and two sterling silver, gold-plated toothpicks.

The “Golden Goose” sandwich needs to be ordered one day in advance, and so far the restaurant says they’ve sold “a few” of them. While the price may seem crazy, at least those who shell out the dough are doing it for a good cause. A portion of the proceeds go to a charity helping children living in the city’s homeless shelters.
