A patient is lucky their replacement heart can take a licking and keep on ticking.
One California patient has still undergone a heart transplant following a series of mishaps. Footage from East Los Angeles showed that the helicopter carrying the vital organ to USC Keck Hospital crashed on the roof while landing.
Firefighters were able to retrieve the heart from the accident, but then a medical worker tripped and dropped it onto the ground. Staff reportedly determined that the heart was not broken. A press release stated that the surgery continued, and that "patient care" was not disrupted.
There is no update on the condition of the person getting the transplant.
