TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Strangers Step Help Woman Living In Car With Cats

A woman in Illinois who had fallen on hard times is getting back on her feet, thanks to the kindness of strangers. Ruth Ann Van Heel had left her job to take care of her sick parents and after they died, she had no income and nowhere to go.

All she had was her car, a cellphone her friend paid for and her two cats.

Van Heel had been living in her car with the cats for two months in a parking lot of a business near Chicago and some of the employees there met and befriended her.

They brought her food, blankets, and cat food and wanted to help her find a shelter to stay in, but none would accept her beloved cats, so they found a foster mom to keep them.

Katie Murawski and the good Samaritans also secured a spot at a shelter for Van Heel and she’s planning to learn a trade so she can find a job. Her new friends also set up a GoFundMe campaign to help her bounce back. Murawski is thankful for all the support they’ve gotten and says, “The sense of community that happened in this situation just blows my mind.”
