A Train Conductor Saves Homeless Man Stuck On Tracks

A freight train conductor is being recognized for saving a homeless man who was stuck on the train tracks in Georgia. The alert CSX conductor was driving a “mile-long” train at full normal speed heading into Marietta when he saw someone on the tracks ahead, according to authorities.

In aFacebook post, the Marietta Police Department explains “because of his swift action, he was able to stop the train before striking the male.” At that point, the conductor got out and helped the man get off the tracks, then called for help. It turns out, the man is homeless and had fallen and couldn’t get up on his own.

“He became hypothermic and if struck by the swift-moving train, would surely have been killed instantly,” the police write in their post. They praise the conductor for his life-saving response, writing, “KUDOS SIR!!!”
