Another snow storm is heading the Cascades starting on Thursday (February 25), and more severe weather is on the way, according to reports.
KOMO said Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for the mountains and their passes through 10 p.m. Friday (February 26). Snoqualmie Pass, Stevens Pass and White Pass could all see 30 to 36 inches of new snow over a 36-hour period.
Forecasters are also reporting strong winds over the next couple days as well, making conditions blizzard-like. Puget Sound may see wind gusts between 30 and 40 mph. Speaking of the region, KOMO said heavy rains, small hail and gusty winds may come through the Seattle and/or Snohomish County areas Thursday afternoon and into the nighttime.
The National Weather Service in Seattle warned that there may be power outages, tree damage and unsecured objects flying around in Western Washington. Reporters said travel will be "extremely difficult across the mountains and occasional pass closures may be needed."
"Weather finally calms during Friday in the lowlands though heavy snow is expected to continue into the mountains through the day. Saturday [February 27] looks to feature some decent dry time after morning showers dissipate though a few showers return for Sunday" (February 28).
Mild weather is expected toward the end of next week, possibly close to 60 degrees, weather experts said.
