New Seattle Waitlist Notifies Residents Of Leftover Doses

If you're looking to get a COVID-19 vaccine, Seattle has a standby list for leftover doses, according to KING 5.

Fire department crews sometimes finish the day with two or three doses remaining, but they need to use them immediately. The city said the list will help mobile vaccination teams distribute unused doses to eligible people.

To qualify, you need to be 65 and older and living in "zip codes disproportionately impacted by the pandemic," according to officials. You'll also need to meet the vaccination team at a location within 30 minutes of being notified. An Alert Seattle text message will be sent out every day around 4:30 p.m., they added. They will also schedule your second dose, according to the website.

"This standby process is ONLY for people who are able to travel to the vaccination locations quickly. Registering for the standby list SHOULD NOT be an individual's only plan for getting vaccinated, and you SHOULD NOT expect to be notified every single day," officials wrote.
