Good Samaritan Returns Vet’s Wallet With $400 Cash Inside

An Air Force veteran lost his wallet, but got it back with all it’s valuables still inside, thanks to a kind stranger.A.G. Hughes and his wife take a daily walk along Buckroe Beach in Virginia, where they start their day by picking up litter left in the sand. It was after one of these walks that he realized he dropped his wallet and after a search and checking with lifeguards to see if it had been turned in, he never thought he’d see it again.

Hughes says he went home and began cancelling his credit cards and figuring out how to order a new driver’s license when he got a call from an unknown number. It was Ben Spencer, who found the wallet and did a Google search to track down Hughes’ phone number. He returned the wallet with all of its contents, including nearly $400 in cash.

Grateful for the good deed, Hughes tried to give Spencer a small reward, but he refused, saying a simple “thank you” was more than enough. But Hughes decided to pay the act of kindness forward with a $100 donation to the St. Jude Dream House Giveaway. “Thank God and there are still good people in this world,” Hughes says. “He had a good heart and was still an honest person even during these hard times which made me feel good.”
