  • The judged all 50 states and the District of Columbia on 44 factors in areas of cost, access and outcomes.
  • Those factors include average monthly insurance premiums, physicians per capita, hospital beds per capita, life expectancy and more.
  • With all that taken into consideration, Massachusetts tops the list as the state with the best healthcare, scoring a 67.73 out of 100 and coming out on top for both access and outcomes, although it does land at 24 for cost.
  • Maryland, fifth overall, is tops for cost.

  • On the flipside, Alabama is the worst state for health care, scoring just a 44.46, and landing at 49 for outcomes and at 48 for both access and cost.
