A mom in California used her bare hands to fight off a mountain lion that was attacking her son. The unnamed woman was inside her house in Calabasas when she heard the five-year-old boy scream and rushed outside, according to officials.
The boy had been playing outside when the mountain lion pounced on him and “dragged him about 45 yards,” according to Captain Patrick Foy, a spokesman with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. He says the mother began “punching and striking the mountain lion with her bare hands and got him off her son.”
The parents then rushed the boy to a Los Angeles hospital, where he’s in stable condition after being treated for injuries to his head, neck and upper torso. Foy says, “The true hero of this story is his mom because she absolutely saved her son’s life.”
