Texas Hotel Offered Free Rooms To Hurricane Evacuees

Folks fleeing Hurricane Ida were offered a free place to stay in Texas, thanks to one hotel group. Bunkhouse Hotels, which is based in Austin, Texas, put out an offer for 100 free rooms at their six locations.

“Our hearts are with our friends in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama,” Bunkhouse writes in twoFacebook posts. “If you are an evacuee of Hurricane Ida, we have a room for you starting tomorrow — free of charge.”

With so many evacuating from the storm, the hotels had no problem finding takers on their offer and filled all their available free rooms. Now Bunkhouse is working with Tankproof, a Louisiana-based nonprofit, for a supplies drive to help those affected get essentials like baby supplies and toiletries.
