Puppy Born With Upside Down Paws Learns To Walk

A puppy born with a rare birth defect is now up and running after a corrective surgery. Siggi the spotted rat terrier was born with her front paws upside down, which kept her from walking.

An animal rescue group in Dallas brought the pup to Oklahoma State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine for treatment, hoping she would get the same surgery the vets had done once before on a dog named Milo. The Veterinary Teaching Hospital did the same for Siggi, moving her paws into the proper downward position and after recovering, she’s chasing balls and playing like a puppy should.

“Siggi found care and came to OSU's Veterinary Teaching Hospital because Milo's story was shared beyond our walls,” explains animal surgeon Dr. Erik Clary.“Milo has brought much joy to many people and I expect the same will be true of Siggi.”
