While teachers likely have one of the most important jobs out there, it is often a thankless one, with many teachers being overworked and underpaid, and definitely underappreciated. But some states do a better job than others at treating their teachers fairly, and a new report reveals which ones they are.
- WalletHub just came out with their annual list of the Best and Worst States for Teachers.
- They judged the 50 states and District of Columbia on 24 key indicators of teacher-friendliness, in areas of opportunity and competition and academic and work environment.
- The factors included things like starting salary, income growth potential, pupil-to-teacher ratio, teacher security, quality of school system and more.
- Topping the list this year is New York, which earns a 60.86 out of 100.
-  New York comes in third for both opportunity and competition, and academic and work environment.
- Utah, which comes in second overall, is tops for opportunity and competition, while Delaware, eighth overall, is tops for academic and work environment.
