Portland State Coach Spent $14K On Beer During Home Opener

Bruce Barnham, head coach of the Portland State Vikings, wanted solid fan support for their home opener against Western Oregon. So, he offeredfree beerto those who showed up. From there, Barny’s Beer Garden was open for business, and no one was expecting the response that resulted. By the end of it all, 786 Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPAs and 1,260 Coors Lights were sold, for a final bill of $14,448…without tip…all coming out of Coach Barnham’s pocket. That equates to around 7% of his entire base salary.
