Hero Cat To Be Honored On Rose Parade Float

A feisty feline that was hailed as a hero for chasing off a dog attacking her young owner will be featured in a special float at this year's Rose Parade.

Tara the Cat achieved internet fame after video of her heroic deed was uploaded to YouTube by the boy's father. The video, which has been viewed more than 30 million times, shows a Bakersfield, California boy riding his bicycle in his driveway when a neighbor's dog becomes unleashed and begins attacking.

The dog bites the boy several times and tries dragging the boy down the driveway. But before he can, Tara the cat sprints toward the dog, and chases him away. The boy sustained several gashes to his leg that required stitches, but was otherwise fine according to his mother.

The female tabby cat and the rest of her family will be riding on the Lucy Pet Foundation Paws for Life Float that are honoring heroic animals. The Rose parade airs on Jan. 1st starting at 8 a.m.
