A 54-year-old forklift driver was arrested after a young woman was killed during a multi-vehicle collision in Seattle, according to the city's police department.

Police said the huge crash happened before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday (February 7) in the 9600 block of Aurora Avenue North. The forklift operator reportedly drove onto the west side of Aurora Avenue and kept eastbound until he rammed into an SUV, which collided with a northbound landscape truck.

Paramedics with the Seattle Fire Department rushed both occupants of the SUV to Harborview Medical Center. The 25-year-old female passenger suffered critical injuries and later died at the hospital, police confirmed. The 27-year-old male driver was in serious condition at the time of the report. The 30-year-old driver of the landscape truck was transported to Harborview in stable condition.

Officers arrested the forklift driver at the scene and "did not require transport to a hospital," authorities wrote. They suspected he was under the influence of intoxicants. After he was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert at the North Precinct, he was booked into King County Jail for vehicular homicide.

Officials have not identified the woman who died from the incident, nor the forklift operator. SPD's Traffic Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the incident.
