TLC Star Could Get 10 Years In Prison For Polygamy

Enoch Foster is the star of TLC's new show Three Wives, One Husband, but he might be wishing he never signed up for it because now he could be arrested and sentenced to ten years in prison for polygamy.

The four-episode series shows Enoch and his three wives in their Rockland Ranch, Utah home but since they shot it, Utah passed an anti-bigamy law.

Also, when Foster agreed to do the docu-series, it was only for British audiences, but TLC picked it up and Enoch didn't have a say in the matter, and by then, Utah policymakers had passed the anti-bigamy law.

In fact, the 2017 statute was enacted following the popularity of another TLC show, Sister WivesThe law makes it illegal for anyone to live with a purported spouse while legally married to someone else. Breaking it carries a sentence of five to ten years in prison, per count.

Worst of all, according to a polygamy Facebook group run by friends of the Fosters, Enoch was paid very little for the show, even though production on it lasted a full year.

They did get some more money when TLC picked up the program, but the family is now pretty scared they'll have to move or hide when all they wanted to do was "help people see that [polygamy] was mostly normal and that most polygamists do not have child brides but rather in most polygamist communities the women choose to [marry into a polygamist family]."

The show, which premiered this month, airs Sundays at 10 PM Eastern on TLC.
