in #CASE you missed it… The Cure
Well they officially made it for the 2019 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - The Cure.
As we get set for an iHeart 80’s weekend here on 95.7 The Jet I can’t help but think of one of my favorite bands that really made a huge impact on music not only in the 80’s but well into the 90’s as well as influencing an entire generation of bands and defining an entire genre of music. None other than
Simply put you can’t talk about 80’s music now without making mention of this monumental band from England. Fronted by Goth icon Robert Smith, The Cure had several “alternative” hits in the 80’s with their “mainstream” crossover hit “Just Like Heaven” being their biggest.
Throughout the 80’s the influence of The Cure’s music could be found in motion pictures as well as fashion. Unknowingly Robert Smith and the band would forge what would become the “Goth” look.
Personified by dark hair, pale skin, and dressed in all black with a somewhat sad and depressing appearance you could say.
The Cure would become one of the most significant bands of the 80’s and are deserving of being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The push to get them enshrined and acknowledge their massive contribution to modern music has finally been achieved.
May I suggest you take a listen on the iHeartradio app and create a custom Cure station right there at your finger tips!
