in #CASE you missed it… The Bionic Mom
Mother of four who lost her fingers after childbirth is getting a $70,000 bionic hand.
Technology is making it possible for a young mother to do essential tasks again after losing her fingers to sepsis. Niamh Boyle developed the life-threatening infection after she had her fourth child last year. She lost the fingers on her left hand and toes on her right foot, but now she’s getting a bionic hand that will change her life.
"After eight months without the use of my left hand, it felt fantastic being able to do tasks with it again," explains the 32-year-old mom from Ireland. She’s training to use her new hand, which will allow her to do basic, everyday things like peel veggies, open packages and pick up and put things down - all really helpful when you’re a mom of four little ones.
This bionic hand doesn’t come cheap - it’s going to cost her over $70,000, but there’s a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the expense. “I am so grateful to all those who have donated to this cause so far,” Boyle says. “This hand will change my life both physically and emotionally.”
