in #CASE you missed it… Can Cinnamon Water Boost Weight Loss?
Cinnamon water isn’t likely to help you lose weight, unless you’re trading out sugary soda for it.
Nutritionists love cinnamon. Part of the reason is that some research has shown that it can help lower blood sugar levels. And because spikes in blood sugar make you feel hungrier, some people think that cinnamon might help you feel fuller, so you eat less overall.
That’s why cinnamon is a trendy drink at health food stores, claiming it can help you lose weight. But can sipping on cinnamon-enhanced H2O really lead to dropping pounds? Unfortunately, science hasn’t proven that yet.
“There’s no evidence that cinnamon improves fullness,” explains nutritionist Elisabetta Politi. So upping your cinnamon intake probably won’t curb your appetite or help you eat less. But adding some of the spice to water is still a great swap if you’re bored with the plain stuff.
And if you replace a high-calorie beverage, like a soda or glass of juice, with cinnamon water, you can cut 100 to 150 calories a day. That adds up to 4,000 calories a month, which makes 48,000 a year - and that equals about 13 pounds of body fat. So if you’re already drinking the sweet stuff, giving it up for cinnamon water can definitely help your waistline. But if you’re already off it, this’ll just give you another tasty option.
