It all started on Reddit when baristas started discussing how "coffee ice" could make drinks taste better because it would prevent iced beverages from getting watered down. If the ice cubes are made of frozen coffee...then when they melt, it's just more coffee!
"Customers can add ice that's been made using Starbucks coffee to any iced espresso or brewed beverage for 80 cents," said a Starbucks spokesperson.
Seems a little steep, but might be worth the splurge sometimes.
Right now, the coffee ice cubes are being tested in 100 different Starbucks stores in Baltimore and St. Louis but how great would it be to have this option during the summer, when the sale of iced beverages skyrockets because it's so hot outside!
While it sounds incredible, the coffee ice is only being tested for a limited time. "We often test new products, programs, and ideas to gather feedback from our customers and partners," added the Starbucks spokesperson. [Source]
There's also a DIY option as well, which would cost you way less:
