TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: “Lasagna Mamas” Feed Thousands

The group, Lasagna Love, with 500 members in 266 cities who have helped feed more than 3-thousand families.

When stay-at-home orders were handed out in mid-March, Rhiannon Menn was struggling to find a purpose. The San Diego mom says she was feeling helpless until she decided to use her cooking skills for good. She started making extra meals for other families who were struggling during the pandemic and turned to a classic comfort food - lasagna - to feed them.

Menn started cooking up lasagnas for people in her community and soon others started asking if they could get involved. The effort soon became Lasagna Love, a group with more than 500 members in 266 cities across the country. So far, these “lasagna mamas” and papas have fed more than 3-thousand families with their home cooking. Anyone can sign up to make a lasagna or order one to their doorstep and each one comes with an encouraging note.

"Your actions don't have to be big to have a big impact. If making lasagna, it takes a few hours and delivering it takes maybe another hour," says Menn. "That's not a huge lift, but it has an amazing impact on one mom."
