People on TikTok have an obsession with a town where most everyone lives in the same building.
The small, coastal town of Whittier, Alaska has almost all of its necessities — the post office, the grocery store, a church, a police station and more — all under one roof. And that’s not including the dozens of apartments upstairs. Whittier has just over 300 residents and thatsingle,14-story building houses around 85 percent of them. An 18-year-old who lives there has shared a video of the strange set-up and it has drawn more than 15 million views. She gives a tour and says, “In this building, there’s a post office, a church, a store and the building office. In the basement of this building we have a tunnel that runs from this building to the school across the street.”
