in #CASE you missed it… What Happens When You Lie On Your Resume

Folks reveal the consequences of them lying on their resume

A new thread on the anonymous Whisper app has folks revealing the consequences of lying on their resume

For some people their bosses didn’t care because they were already doing a good job

A few got fired when they were found out, or lost a potential gig because of it, while one person had to fake a seizure because they didn’t speak French like they said he did

When looking for a job it's awfully tempting to lie on your resume. And while a fib or a slight exaggeration is one thing, it’s never smart to outright lie, and even worse when you get caught doing it.

Revelations include:

“I lied on my resume and forged my college transcripts. By the time they found out I had been promoted twice so they didn’t care.”

“On my resume I said I was CPR certified. They never checked but one time a customer stopped breathing and I freaked out and asked if anyone knew CPR. My co-worker was like ‘don’t you?’ I blamed it on nerves.”

“I lied on my resume to get my current job. I don’t have one degree I have three. I was tired of not being hired because I was overqualified. When my boss found out he upped my pay.”

“Because I lied on my resume I now make $120K a year. Months later they randomly checked to see if I was employed at a place I listed on my resume (I wasn’t) and now I’m suspended without pay.”

“I lied on my resume and said I had job experience when I really never worked a day in my life. My boss found out and just laughed. He doesn’t care since I’m good at my job.”

“I lied on my resume and said I was fluent in French…A French client came to speak to me and I faked a seizure to get out of helping her out.”

“When you lie on your resume and now your employer needs you to do that one thing you lied about. I spent five hours learning Excel to put together a spread sheet and still got it wrong.”

“I lied on my resume and got an engineering job. I messed up on what was supposed to be a 'routine assignment' and broke several machines. I was not surprised when they fired me.”

“My job ended in January. I lied on my resume and said it ended in July. A potential employer just called me to say I didn’t get the job because she found out I lied.”

“In my cover letter I said I’m very punctual. I’m not. I showed up to work late three times and got fired.”
