Ready or not, crimped hair is making a comeback. This zigzag look from the ‘80s is back in style, with celebs like Gabrielle Union and “Girls” star Zosia Mamet sporting crimped hair.

For those who might not have experienced the crimped look the first time around, crimping is kind of the opposite of flowing, natural beachy waves. It’s a definite statement, but the look has a modern update. Araxi Lindsay, Tracee Ellis Ross’ hairstylist on “Black-ish” says that the indentations aren’t as sharp as they were in the ‘80s and early ‘90s. And thankfully, no one’s using as much heavy aerosol hair spray these days.

“But those of you who lived through the crimp craze before might not want to revisit this look. If it brings back memories of bad perms, fried hair, and way too much hairspray, I get it!
