Nervous Soldier Worries Military Dog Won't Remember Him After 3 Years

Do you have tissues nearby?  You might want to get some.

Army Specialist Vance McFarland made a strong bond with a Tactical Explosive Detection Dog while serving in Afghanistan.  They worked together locating roadside bombs during their deployment.

When the two returned back to the states, the dog, Ikar, was reportedly sent to an independent contractor.  Unfortunately, that situation did not work out for Ikar and he spent 17 months living in a kennel.  When McFarland heard Ikar had been abandoned and saved by the group Mission K9 Rescue, he jumped at the chance to adopt him.

In the video below, you'll see how nervous McFarland is to be reunited with his four-legged friend after almost three years apart.  Clearly, Ikar didn't forget about him.
