Fifth grader punished for calling teacher 'ma'am'

A fifth grader in North Carolina was punished by his teacher because he wouldn't stop calling her "ma'am." He was taught to do that by his parents, to show respect . . . but apparently the teacher had an issue with it.

WTVD reports the parents of 10-year-old Tamarion Wilson said they noticed something was bothering their son when he got off the bus from North East Carolina Preparatory School on Tuesday.

When asked what was wrong, Tamarion pulled a sheet of paper out of his book bag, covered front and back with the handwritten word "ma'am." Click here for more details from News 2

Do you think the student deserved to be punished?
