A case of “better late than never?” Police in Louisiana have arrested a 71-year-old man on 100 preliminary counts of first-degree rape.Harvey Fountain of Pineville was arrested after detectives started investigating a complaint that he committed sexual crimes against minors.
Officials say the crimes began in the early 1970s and spanned throughout the early 1980s. He was initially held on 50 counts of first-degree rape before detectives were able to identify additional victims while he was in jail, leading them to tack on 50 more counts.
At last check, Fountain is still being held in the Rapides Parish Detention Center on a one-million-dollar bail. Officials say the investigation is ongoing and there's the potential for more arrests. It’s not clear if Fountain has an attorney.
