Trump refuses to work with Democrats unless they stop investigating him

What a difference a few weeks makes. It was just three-weeks ago that President Trump, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumerremarkably came to a tentative agreement over a $2-trillion infrastructure package. Well – that’s over. What changed?House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's accusation that Mr. Trump is engaging in a "cover-up."

Following a meeting that reportedly lasted just three-minutes,yesterday the President marched into the Rose Garden and said flatly: "I don't do cover-ups." He also reiterated his contention that the Russia investigation is “a hoax” and added – "No collusion, no obstruction." He went on to say that he told the Pelosi and Schumer that he won't do infrastructure "under these circumstances."

President Trump says the "phony investigations" into his campaign must end before he will take part in any infrastructure deal. Trump also said he doubts Dems actually want to make a deal on renovating highways, bridges, airports and rails.

  • Later taking to Twitter, he also took direct aim at Speaker Pelosi. “In a letter to her House colleagues, Nancy Pelosi said: “President Trump had a temper tantrum for us all to see.” This is not true,” he wrote. “I was purposely very polite and calm, much as I was minutes later with the press in the Rose Garden. Can be easily proven. It is all such a lie!” She also replied via Twitter offering: “This is about patriotism, not politics.”
