How responsible should you be if your kid does something stupid. Okay, how responsible should you be if your kid does something terrible. That’s the question at play in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin – where lawmakers are considering putting into place an anti-bullying ordinance that would fine parentsif their children bully others.

Earlier this month, the Wisconsin Rapids’ Legislative Committee voted unanimously to recommend the ordinance to the Common Council – that body will consider it on June 18th(Tuesday).

Apparently, the move was inspired by a viral social media incident, which showed a local middle school girl getting handwritten notes from her peers urging her to kill herself. If passed, the measure would hold parents and guardians responsible for such behavior – the first fineable offense would be $50, with additional costs bringing the total to $313. Parents would receive a written warning first.
