The latest volley in the feud between Congressman Elijah Cummings and President Trump over a comment Trump made about Baltimore has been made.
The president has come under attack for calling Baltimore a “disgusting rat and rodent infested mess,” but it appears Cummings at one point made a similar point about his home district. Trump posted a video of the long-time congressman’s comments about the drug problem in the city from back in 1999.
The clip, which aired on CSPAN during a hearing about the drug threat from Columbia, shows Cummings saying “This morning, I left my community of Baltimore, a drug-infested area where a lot of the drugs that we’re talking about today have already taken the lives of so many children.” It goes on to show him talk about kids he saw grow up becoming zombies due to drugs.
Congressional democrats have called Trump racist over his attack on on the Maryland Democrat. Trump in turn captioned the video with “The Radical Left Dems went after me for using the words ‘drug-infested’ concerning Baltimore. Take a look at Elijah C.”
