in #CASE you missed it… Florida Six-Year-Old Arrested For Tantrum

A Florida grandmother got a call from school that few can believe: her six-year-old granddaughter apparently threw a tantrum…and had been arrested. And yes, a “real” arrest…complete with handcuffing, being transported to a juvenile facility and a mugshot.

Meralyn Kirkland says she still can’t process what happened to granddaughter, Kaia. Ironically, neither can officials, who say they’re investigating the arresting officer: David Turner.

Apparently, Kaia wasn’t the only child Turner tried to send up the river. Department officials say she was one of two children Turner arrested that day – the other was 8-years old. The main problem? It’s department policy that officers get a supervisor’s approval before arresting anyone under 12 – it seems Turner didn't do that. While the investigation into his behavior continues, there’s no word on what will happen with Kaia’s battery charge.
