“Miracle Baby” Survives Heart Surgery And Beats Coronavirus

It’s been a tough start in life for Erin Bates, but she’s on the road to recovery now. The infant was born in October weighing only five-pounds, four-ounces and had open-heart surgery in December for a heart defect. And while the tiny baby girl was in a U.K. hospital, she contracted the coronavirus.

But the “miracle baby” has now beaten the deadly illness. Erin spent two weeks in isolation at the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool and received a guard of honor by the team who treated her as she was moved out of isolation.

“They are all truly amazing and we will be forever grateful,” say Erin’s parents, Emma and Wayne.
